The humble Amstrad CPC micro-computer, born in 1984 has still to this day a surprisingly strong following. Independent developers, engineers and fans are still writing games, software and utilities and building modern hardware mods and more. It's actually quite outstanding a computer this old has such a user-base in the 21st century. Year on year, and thanks largely to the annual CPCretroDev competition, a spate of new games are released. Some simple BASIC programs, others highly intricate and detailed coded games which wouldn't have looked out of place if released back in 1988. In fact, many would be best sellers. So, here are my 3 films on what are the finest games made between 2015 and 2017.
2015 featured top games and interesting remakes from
Shinra, Egotrip, Toni Ramirez, Morri, CNG Soft and Project Argon
2016 saw a record number of new releases from the likes of
Keith Sear, Shining, Usebox.net, Bitplane and RetroBytes
2017 saw a vast step up in quality over quantity. Shining and Keith Sear return,
along with Arnaud Bouche, 4MHZ and Azicuetano/Mcklain.
To mark to 31st anniversary of the Amstrad CPC464, I took the time to create a tribute film showcasing four hundred and sixty four games in just under 1 hour. This blog page is to assist the video; a full list of all the games shown in order, as well as the soundtrack listing. All games used are playable on the CPC464, but some may require additional ram expansion or disk drive. However, no Plus or GX4000 games have been included. The footage is captured from either emulation or actual hardware.
It's April, It's 2014 and it's time for another A to Z blog challenge! Like last time, this is going to be video game based again but more personal to me than before. First a little backstory: The first gaming system I owned as a child was an Amstrad CPC464, I have many great memories of playing on this system, so this is an A to Z run-down of the games which I remember the most fondly. It's not the best games, or most selling or anything like that, it's the titles which I played intensely over the time I had the machine back in the 80's. I hope to stir a few goosebumps and jog a few memories. I have not included titles from Amstrad's GX4000 games console as a primary pick, but they may get an honourable mention.
Rules are: 1 blog per day of April excluding Sundays, making for 26 blogs adhering to the alphabet. Simple, but like the title says, a challenge. Enjoy.
